Values Workshop with BCS Women

I had the pleasure of delivering a Values Workshop for BCS Women at their event hosted by Free Agent.  A group of around 20 women with a couple of token men worked through some guided journeys to begin surfacing and understanding what was important to them.

One ‘lucky’ volunteer also had the opportunity to be coached by me in front of the room to demonstrate how the process of ‘mining for values’ works following the guided journey.

I then split the group into pairs and gave a set of powerful questions to assist them in their exploration of each other’s experience during the guided journey.  They were guided to place emphasis on curiosity and respect confidentiality.

The Importance of Knowing Your Values

The next stage of the workshop was to split everyone into 3 groups to explore some central themes around values:

  • Awareness of values in yourself and others strengthens relationships
  • Having clarity on your own values leads to easier decision making
  • How to make the best use of values for effective prioritisation

Locking in the learning

As a final ‘lock-in’, I facilitated a facilitated group discussion on what the overall learning was from the session.  Everyone had the opportunity to share the one thing they would do differently as a result.

Key Takeaways

In general, the workshop left participants with a clearer sense of who they are, what’s important, and how to apply that authentically.  This ultimately starts the process of getting clarity on purpose overall.
